Tyrexpo Africa 2016 sharpens its focus to provide new business & knowledge sharing opportunities for South Africa’s growing automotive industry

8 March 2016, South Africa – The 6th edition of Tyrexpo Africa 2016 opened today, announcing the introduction of three new focused business segments and two new knowledge exchange platforms. The three new business segments - Automotive Repair & Maintenance, Services & Smart Solutions and Tyre Sustainability, together with Tyres offer buyers a more holistic platform for sourcing, aligned to the changing needs of the growing automotive industry in South Africa. The introduction of the TechTalk Seminar (TTS) and Tyrexpo Technical Workshop(TTW) provides the opportunity for buyers and sellers from the garage and workshop and fleet management companies to share new industry trends, training skills and business best practices in South Africa.

South Africa's automotive industry has transformed into a global engine for the manufacturing and export of vehicles and components. With the wealth of investment opportunities in the industry and the increasing number of global companies establishing their production plants here, the government has identified it as a key sector for growth. It has implemented automotive industry programmes and policies to ensure that it becomes a major player in the global market. Tyrexpo Africa is strategically placed to tap into this growing market potential.

Supporting the evolving knowledge needs within the industry

With the growth and expansion in the industry, skilled labour with the relevant knowledge and skill-sets is required to meet the market demands and sustain South Africa’s competitive edge in the global market. Anticipating this need, the TechTalk Seminar (TTS) is a series of carefully curated sessions for industry leaders to discuss contemporary issues and challenges, and topical subjects relevant to the industry in Africa. The Tyrexpo Technical Workshop (TTW)
comprises hands-on demonstrative workshops for visitors to equip themselves with the necessary skills, training and knowledge using new technology and advancements to stay relevant in the Tyre Repair Trade.

Creating multiple touch points to facilitate business exchange

With the introduction of the three new segments, visitors were able to enjoy a wider offering of products, services and business solutions from close to 100 international exhibitors from 19 countries. This included exhibitors from the two new exhibiting countries of Lithuania and
Mexico. In addition, the interconnectivity of each segment meant that the exhibitors from one segment could potentially sell their solutions to exhibitors from another segment who represented part of their buying community.

Tyrexpo Africa also recognises the value and importance of making relevant connections and meetings. To enhance participants’ networking potential and overall experience, the Tyrexpo Business Matching Service helped match buyers to sellers and facilitated onsite meetings at the Tyrexpo Business Matching Lounge. To provide even more business networking opportunities, the first ever Fries&Beer Happy Hour provides a more casual and informal backdrop for industry peers and those in the fleet management companies, tyre manufacturers, garage and workshop owners to network and mingle on 8 and 9 March 2016.
